Vision: All Children and Youth will reach their highest potential in school, home, and community life.

Mission: The Child and Youth Mental Health Planning Partnership will work together to promote the mental health of Travis County children and youth.

Values: All activities and deliverables should be strength-based and culturally competent.

  3. Continue to increase membership to reflect diverse group of stakeholders & providers including education, behavioral health, juvenile justice, law enforcement, child-serving agencies, funders, government, faith community, family members, youth, civic and community leaders.

2. Educate and advocate Educate the community on issues impacting children, youth and families
  1. Increase community awareness of children's MH needs and services through participation in National MH Awareness Day.
  2. Empower parents to access services for their children's MH needs.
  3. Provide up-to-date information about MH resources on CYMHPP website.
  4. Provide and share training opportunities to increase capacity of youth serving organizations to work with children and youth with MH needs.
  5. Advocate to sustain funding for CMH in the schools, in juvenile probation.
  1. Hold bimonthly planning meetings with community partners, hold a local event for National MH Awareness Day, conduct outreach to media.
  2. Publish information about mental health topics and resources for parents on the CYMHPP website (www.cymhpp-ctx.org). Request that AISD Child Study System include a link to CYMHPP parent resources
  3. Re-design website with support by CAN; Maintain website to ensure accurate and current content.
  4. Host training calendar on CYMHPP website (synchronized with CAN event calendar).
  5. Present to CAN and selected other groups in order to advocate for children's mental health services. Participate in CAN issue area meetings.

3. Strengthen community provider and local school district relationships Improve prevention of mental health problems.

  1. Work with the AISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) committee to address student counseling, psychological and social service needs.
  2. Request that all staff in secondary schools participate in free, on-line suicide prevention training.
  3. Advocate for continued AISD representation in CYMHPP
  4. Educate school-based multidisciplinary teams about children's MH issues.
  5. Improve coordination of CMH services with school systems
  1. Present recommendations regarding children's mental health, early intervention & developmental impact of trauma to the SHAC.
  2. Follow up with earlier request to the SHAC re. recommendation to the AISD Board that all secondary school staff be required to participate in on-line suicide prevention training.
  3. Follow up with earlier request to Dr. Carstarphen and invite key AISD staff to CYMHPP meetings
  4. Publish information about mental health topics & resources for parents on the AISD Child Study System Website. Provide training for child study teams on trauma-informed care.
